The Road Worlds for Seniors made a difference
The City of Karlstad decided to invest in Motiview in 2016, to increase physical activity at their resource centre for seniors. But it was when they participated in the Road Worlds for Seniors that the use of Motiview really took off!
“I see the difference; In the beginning I could use the bike for two minutes, and I considered myself to be good. Now I ride the bike for half an hour and go 5 km,” says Kerstin. “I’m in a wheelchair and I can ride the bike. With Motiview I can choose where I want to “go”, whether that is Karlstad or Milan.”
From good to better
“We see that some that have been in wheelchairs for a long time now can walk with a walker, due to the cycling,” says Selene Edqvist, rehabilitation assistant at the centre.
In the beginning, Motiview was being successfully used at the centre in Karlstad, and they saw great benefits from the get-go. However, after the participation in the global annual championship and the medal award ceremony where the team at the resource centre in Karlstad won the title “Crew of the Year 2017”, the momentum and buzz around Motiview really grew. The number of installations have grown over the years, and today eleven care facilities in the city are having engaged cyclists.
“We see that some that have been in wheelchairs for a long time now can walk with a frame, due to the cycling,” says Selene Edqvist, rehabilitation assistant at the centre.

Motivation is key
“Motiview is great, because it’s really easy to use. It works for many independently of reduced mobility and functional levels,” says Ann-Sophie Gustavsson, project manager for welfare technology in Karlstad. She continues: “Without the Motiview for motivation, we would not be able to facilitate this much activity without more staff. It is the videos that make people want to do the exercise.”
