Many of the age-related disorders are created by inactivity more than age itself. Physical inactivity and sedentary behaviour highly influence the health outcomes of older adults.
We see that motivation and empowerment is key for ageing well.
By enabling seniors to watch videos of familiar roads and inspiring places far away while using an exercise bike suitable for the users, our concept Motiview helps seniors to be at their natural best.
As of today, thousands of seniors across hundreds of care facilities around the world are getting the benefits of Motiview.
Since Motitech was established in Norway in 2013, our mission has been to support seniors to be physically, mentally, and socially active, and to age well.
We are continuously building good and strategic partnerships. This helps growing the Motiview community and the global movement for ageing well.
And we are always seeking new partners for the community of supporters to grow.
With Motiview, seniors can travel the world, revisit familiar places from their childhoods, or travel to destinations from important points in their lives. By providing a video projection that plays while they pedal on stationary exercise bikes they can virtually cycle through thousands of destinations.
Motitech was founded in 2013 by Jon Ingar Kjenes as a result of a successful project by the Agency for Nursing Homes in Bergen. The project aimed to stimulate older people and people with dementia to improve their lives through increased physical activity, focusing on those living in long term care and people with dementia in particular. They wanted to see whether the increased physical activity would affect the behaviour and psychological symptoms in relation to dementia, and did a 24/7 registration of a large variety of behavioural pattern and physiological symptoms. This included monitoring aggressive behaviour, sleep, appetite, pain, use of medication, anxiety, depression, and other.
The city bought 40 indoor exercise bikes for the residents to use and – with the acknowledgement that people are people no matter the age – that to obtain the wanted results, motivation was key. Based on the project’s great success, showing increased quality of life and better health, Motitech launched the video & cycling concept under the name Motiview – with the purpose of increasing life quality for as many older people as possible.
Motitech aims to helps all ageing people reach their physical potential, by providing an innovative and stimulating outlet that motivates them to exercise. The technology has also proven to be successful in improving the wellbeing of older people and those with dementia through the physical and mental benefits it provides.
Motitech sees huge value in giving those that are most at risk the opportunity to partake in enjoyable physical activity and the chance to immerse themselves in the outside world, all from the safety of their own residences. Motitech is currently present in the Nordics, Europe, North America, Australia, and Asia.
